Web Services at Cal State Monterey Bay has a dedicated user experience (UX) team member to help us make amazing interfaces and applications where our students, staff, and faculty can study, work, and play.
A UX specialist works closely with a developer and project manager as the voice of our users, and takes existing or beta programs out into the field to make sure we're delivering the kind of experience our users deserve.
A UX specialist gets excited about solving problems, loves to teach others, and explain difficult topics in clear ways. They like seeing the results of their testing turn into web interfaces that get used more and more by ever appreciative customers.
As the university's first UX specialist, Liz MacDonald ensures that our websites, web applications, and business processes work well for users.
Liz has been the senior editor for CSUMB in University Communications for over eight years, and her experience as a great communicator and user advocate makes her an invaluable addition to Web Services. In addition to her job skills, she earned an MFA from San Jose State, is a lover of creative non-fiction, a keeper of bees, and an accomplished triathlete. She also won the 2012 CSUMB President’s Medal Award.
