Technology Enhanced Classrooms (TEC)

AKA: Smart Classrooms

Nearly every classroom at CSUMB is technology-enhanced ("smart"). These rooms include a digital projector, workstation, laptop connection, VCR and AV equipment.

AV Cabinet

The majority of TEC's at CSUMB have their equipment stored in an AV cabinet. In order to access the AV cabinet, you need a special key called Marlok. You do not need access to the cabinet to use the projector with the workstation.

Smart Panel

1. Power On
Press and hold the button "Projector" for 3-5 seconds
Note: Projector requires a few minutes to warm up before image appears.

2. Source Select
Press and hold button under source label(Computer, Computer2, VCR or Auxiliary Video) for 2-3 seconds. The label will turn blue when source is active.

3. Adjusting Volume
Press the up or down arrow to adjust levels. The current volume level is indicated by the number of green dots.

4. Power Off
Press and hold the Projector Off button for 2 seconds. The projector warm up light will turn red and the panel shuts off.

Projector Remotes

There are at least two different remotes and they will vary depending on the type of projector installed in the room. Below you will find instructions the two most common.

Remove Projector Remote located in the bottom drawer of the AV cabinet. 1. Power On Make sure remote control switch is in the "on" position. Point remote control towards projector and press power button. Note: Projector requires a few minutes to warm up before image appears on screen. 2. Source Select (Computer/Video) Point remote control towards projector and press source button. Comp 2 for workstation and video for VHS. Note: Your particular remote may not have an S-Video button and you will need to press the video button twice to view VHS playback. 3. Power Off Point remote control towards projector and press power button. An on screen prompt will appear and ask you to confirm off request by pressing the power button a second time.

Note: Projector requires a few minutes to warm up before image appears on screen. 2. Source Select (Computer/Video) Point remote control towards projector and press source button to switch between computer and VHS. Note: Your particular remote may not have an S-Video button and you will need to press the video button twice to view VHS playback. 3. Power Off Point remote control towards projector and press power button. An on screen prompt will appear and ask you to confirm off request by pressing the power button a second time.

Close Caption Decoders

Close Caption Decoders are available in all TEC locations. Instructions on the use of the equipment is posted on the media cabinet.

TEC Loadsets

In general, the TEC loadset includes the Basic, Lab and Special Title loadsets. We have all the details of each TEC in a special database called OtterSpace.
