Major changes planned for campus Internet firewall March 20th

Network Engineering will be replacing the existing Cisco Internet firewalls with new Juniper Internet firewalls between 6pm and midnight on March 20, 2008. Internet firewalls protect the campus network from disruptive attacks by others on the Internet. This protection is accomplished via a series of firewall "rules" designed by Network Engineering that scan for and then block malicious behavior. These rules are being translated from the existing Cisco format to the new Juniper format. Every effort is being taken to ensure that the rules are translated correctly. However, the possibility exists that some campus Internet traffic may be adversely affected. As usual, please report any problems to the Help Desk at 582-HELP or submit a Service Request here.
