Keep your laptop up to date

It recommends that your CSUMB computer stay on at night (every night and weekends too) and connected to a network so we can perform critical and automated maintenance/updates and so that your AntiVirus software can download important virus definitions. We realize this is difficult if not impossible to do when you are off-campus, but there is an easy way to keep your laptop up to date by following these two steps on a daily basis:

1) Connect your laptop to a network connection. Any connection will work, as long as you can access web pages. Most hotels, airports and conference centers have wired or wireless network access. If you are at home, you can also use your personal ISP network connection to perform this task.

2) Manually run a LANDesk Security Scan by going to Start> All Programs> LANDesk Management> Security Scan

These same steps can be used if your laptop is at CSUMB, but has been turned off or not connected to the network for more than 24-hours.

If you have a CSUMB computer without the LanDesk client, please submit a ticket to have it installed as soon as possible.
