NEWS - 10.24.2006
On Wednesday, November 1, Technology Help Desk walk-in service will return. It will be available at the Technology Help Desk now located in the middle of the Media Learning Center (Building 18).
Services we will offer on November 1 include:
--Get connected to the CSUMB wired and wireless networks
--Get connected to the CSUMB email system (installation and configuration of the FirstClass client and logging in)
--Get connected to the Home Server (installation and configuration of SFTP software and connecting to the Home Server)
--Get your machine protected from virus, worm and spyware threats (installation/configuration of anti virus and spyware protection software and configuration of Microsoft/Windows Automatic Updates)
--Get your technology questions answered (a chance to ask a question or learn more about technology at CSUMB)
These services are designed to be instructional and will require the customer to participate in the process. IT@CSUMB does not offer drop-off repair service. Customers will get their hands "dirty" and our goal is for them to be able to self-repair should the same thing happen again in the future.
--Initially only laptops users will be able to participate but we expect to have the capacity for people to bring in their desktop equipment by the end of the semester.
--Hardware repair and operating system installation/repair services will not be available.
--These services are for personal computers only (not owned by CSUMB).
--Service will be available on a first-come, first-serviced basis (no appointments yet).
--When you visit us, bring your laptop, power supply and the CD's that came with it.
--Other services will be added in Spring 2007
Days/hours of walk-in service will be posted here:
