NEWS - 10.24.2006
Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) and Firefox 2.0 became available on 10/24/2006. We have tested and confirmed Firefox 2.0 is compatible with CSUMB Web applications that don't require Internet Explorer, but we highly recommend that you don't update your computer to IE 7.
Both of these Web browsers have lots of cool new features, but you should not attempt to install IE because it may not work properly with CSUMB web applications including Banner Web. Since Firefox is recommended for ancillary surfing (i.e. non-business related), upgrading should not be an issue.
We have configured Windows/Microsoft Automatic Updates so that it will not automatically update CSUMB computers to IE 7 and have blocked the downloadable installer from running because Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 have not been fully tested with all CSUMB web applications and at least two vendors (see bulletins at the bottom of this page) have indicated that their web applications will not work with Internet Explorer 7.
We will be testing and certifying our applications in the coming weeks and include updated recommendations here and on the Web browser page:

Charlotte Content Management System
Internet Explorer Version 7 has been released by Microsoft. IE 7 is not compatible with the current versions of Ingeniux CMS and at this time we strongly recommend against downloading IE 7 on any computer using the Ingeniux software. Ingeniux will release a patch in the near future to provide IE 7 support for versions 4.2, 5.1 and 5.2 of Ingeniux CMS. The patch will be made available to customers prior to IE 7 being included in Windows automatic updates.
CMS
Microsoft has just released Internet Explorer 7. CMS Central has tested this browser with UniWeb and has seen issues with authenticating to UniWeb with Internet Explorer 7. Until CMS Central and Unisys can perform additional testing, Internet Explorer 7 should not be used to access UniWeb. Additional information will be distributed via bulletin as it becomes available.

Although Sungard is not aware of any issues at this time and it is their intent to support IE7, the testing will not be completed through the first quarter of 2007. No official statement will be made until all testing is completed, including committment from Oracle.
Acorde Imaging
Stellent's plans are to officially support IE 7 in Stellent product versions 8.x, release timeline TBD. CSUMB is currently upgrading to 7.x, no current plans for future upgrades.
Blackboard
Blackboard Quality Assurance has tested Internet Explorer 7 and rated it as compatible with the Blackboard Academic Suite.
IS Student Group is continuing research on other applications, i.e. Resource25, Appworx, Moodle and will keep you up-to-date.
