Operating System Standards & Support Levels

We have three levels of support for operating systems at CSUMB:

Recommended: IT has determined that this operating system will give the user the best performance and compatibility with common software in use on this campus and we offer support on these systems.

Discouraged: IT does not maintain, repair, or otherwise support computers or computer hardware at this level.

Unsupported: Computer hardware platforms in this category are not supported in any form and the use of this equipment is strongly discouraged.

If you are bringing a computer to CSUMB and it is more than two years old, you should check to see where your operating system falls (FYI, Vista is not yet supported):

Operating System Standards/Support Levels

If your operating system falls into the Discouraged or Unsupported category, it still may work, but if you require technical support that is related to your operating system, you will need to find other support options.
