File sharing applications spread security and virus threats.

A large percentage of the computers in the dorms and cable modem network infected with a virus or worm appear to have been infected through file sharing applications.

There are over 6400 (six thousand four hundred!) Symantec Security Response's related to virus and worm threats that spread through file sharing networks.

If you use a file sharing application, you should:

1) Make sure you have AntiVirus software installed and up to date
2) Research file sharing applications to see which ones are safest to use and least likely to include Spyware and Adware during installation
3) Visit the Federal Trade Commission Consumer Alert web page
