If you are planning to get rid of your smart phone, you should reset (AKA wipe, erase) it first. This process will delete your personal information and leave the phones software in factory-new condition:

If your phone has a removable memory card, that should be removed or erased too.

If you have a phone type that is not listed above, contact your mobile phone company and ask them for instructions on how to reset your phone.
