Attention all Faculty and Staff at CSUMB:

This spring the CSU System's Common Network Infrastructure (CNI) project is coming to the CSUMB Campus to refresh/replace our building network switches. This will mean network disruption to each building, in some cases more than once, in order to replace the electronics that serve each building, including the wireless networks.

  • We are planning much of the work during spring break to address classrooms and minimize impact during the semester. The remainder will be completed in April.
  • All work must be completed during business hours per our agreement with the installers (AT&T). After hours cutovers (outside 8-5) may be requested but have associated costs not covered by the program. Please contact Steven Mann @ x4533 with any requests.
  • Core servers, the data center and Internet access will remain operational from all other Campus areas during outages.
  • Wireless Internet access will also be unavailable during outages.
  • East Campus and Residence Halls will not be upgraded or affected.

FAQ' and more information can be found here, as well as the schedule of outages for all buildings so departments can prepare for the outages in their areas. I ask that you review the schedule for your building and areas and develop a plan to operate during the outages.

Network Services will do everything possible to minimize each outage and to test systems after each building is cutover. Thank you in advance to all campus departments for working around the Network Team as we upgrade and improve our infrastructure.
