Systems Impacted: HOME and CLASSES server

Roles Impacted: Students, Faculty

On August 1, 2011, CSUMB will no longer provide personal network storage services to incoming students in the HOME server (existing students will not be affected). Emerging storage options within the MY CSUMB cloud, combined with the numerous free third party solutions – all of which offer substantially more space – will allow students increased storage and manageability for personal file storage.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR FALL 2011

What does this mean to STUDENTS? New students will not have accounts to write to the HOME or CLASSES server. Students will have READ access to files shared by faculty through the World folder in either HOME or CLASSES.

What does this mean to FACULTY? If you have courses using the HOME or CLASSES server for student coursework, use iLearn for submission or sharing of coursework/instructional materials. You may still use CLASSES World folder to distribute materials by direct link.

Faculty and courses with unique storage needs will be able to apply for appropriate network storage space on a semester-by-semester basis.
