Information Technology is working closely with CSUMB Energy Management Services to plan and implement advanced computer power management on CSUMB computers. Estimated power savings are 600,000 kWh annually, saving 314,400 lbs. of carbon from entering our atmosphere (source: PG&E).
Over the summer, IT will implement LANDesk Power Management policy via LANDesk Power Manager on CSUMB managed Windows assets. LANDesk Power Manager is a component of the LANDesk management suite that CSUMB uses to deploy, update and manage all computer assets. The system consists of a client that is installed on all desktops that connects to a central server. More info on the LANDesk Power Manager software is available here:
Part of the power management project includes the replacement of approximately 200 lab computers with ones that are compatible with the latest power management tools.
